ASIAN PORK TACO
Love tacos? Then take your next taco dinner international! Ditch the traditional Mexican flavours and experiment with the Orient instead. These pork tacos with Cape Herb & Spice Chinese 5 Spice, hoisin and sweet chilli sauce really hit the spot.
- WHAT YOU WILL NEED -
- small pork steak (150g)
- salt
- small handful of sliced red and yellow peppers
- whites of 3 spring onions, sliced (preserve the greens)
- vegetable oil, for frying
- 2 Tbsp sweet chilli sauce
- 1 Tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tsp Canadian Herb & Spice CHINESE 5-SPICE
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 2 tsp dark soy sauce
- FOR SERVING
- soft flour tortilla
- red and green cabbage, finely sliced
- apple, finely sliced
- coriander
- green part of spring onions, finely sliced
- toasted cashews (optional)
- METHOD -
Lightly salt the pork strips. Fry the pork, spring onions and peppers in a splash of vegetable oil until just cooked through. Add Cape Herb & Spice Chinese 5-Spice, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, hoisin and sweet chilli sauce and fry over low heat for another minute or two. Serve pork with fillings wrapped in a warm tortilla and enjoy this fantastic dish.
